Philadelphia Flower Show 2007
The Secret Gardens of Ireland
8 March, 2007 at 5.30pm
Dermot O'Neill lectured at the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show, which is run by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. This is America's largest and oldest horticultural show, founded in 1829. The theme of the 2007 show was 'Legends of Ireland' and Dermot's lecture was entitled 'The Secret Gardens of Ireland'.
Listen to Philadelphia Flower Show Media Director Steve Maurer briefly explain the history and scale of the show.
Dermot's illustrated talk guided the audience around Ireland from north to south. He explored a selection of some of the finest gardens in the country, many in private ownership. Ireland can boast over 100 gardens open to the public so he was spoilt for choice in making this selection.
Dermot would like to thank Fáilte Ireland for their support and encouragement in making this trip to Philadelphia possible. Visitors travelling to Ireland from North America should log on to www.tourismireland.com for more information on how to travel to Ireland.
